Paraty – Program

 

PROGRAM integrates:

  • Repertoire-based study of Brazilian Styles, including Samba, Bossa Nova, Baião, Maracatu, Choro, Samba partido alto, Samba batucada
  • Brazilian Rhythms, Phrasing & Articulation
  • Improvisation & Harmony
  • Percussion
  • Batucada
  • Ensembles and opportunities for duets, trios & solo performance

SCHEDULE:  MONDAY – FRIDAY ***

9:45  - 12:45  Classes

12:45 – 3:45  Lunch & Break (practice, relax at pool/beach, visit in the town).

3:45 –   6:30  Classes

7:30  Dinner

9:00  - 10:30  Jams, Faculty and Student Performances (nights TBA)

SCHEDULE:   OPTIONAL TRIP EXTENSIONS

Students can opt to leave on Saturday morning, or to take advantage of the option to stay in Paraty through Sunday morning and return by private coach and depart from Rio on Sunday or Monday.   On Saturday,  will be planning day boat trip(s) to islands and/or jeep trips to the adjacent rain forest on Saturday.   For those who opt to stay in Rio, we will be planning excursions on Sunday and Monday.
