BAR HARBOR, MAINE
July 22-27, July 29-Aug 4, 2012
Looking for a unique learning experience? Our 4th annual Samba Meets Jazz Workshops camp will come to life July 22 through 27, and July 29 through August 4 on Frenchman's Bay in picturesque Bar Harbor, Maine, steps to Acadia National Park. Under the musical direction of world-class guitarist / educator Roni Ben-Hur and virtuoso Brazilian bassist Nilson Matta, along with our dream team faculty, participants will be immersed in Jazz, Brazilian Music and Latin Jazz studies.
Designed for music makers of all backgrounds, on all levels, Samba Meets Jazz attendees get to experience personalized instruction from our faculty -- from morning to night. Small class sizes facilitate attentive coaching and guidance, while evenings are filled with faculty-led jams, concerts and even Big Band sessions.
Our diverse group of participants come from across the United States and beyond - including adult hobbyists, college students, instrumentalists / vocalists seeking to explore new genres, as well as educators and jazz artists seeking to hone their craft and make meaningful connections. High school students are encouraged to participate if chaperoned.
PARATY, BRAZIL
March 10 -17, 2012
Did you ever dream of spending a week on the Brazilian Coast enjoying the majestic beauty of the ocean and the mountains, the vibrant culture of Brazil, not to mention alluring food and drinks – all while playing and learning about Samba & Jazz from morning till night? This past February, that dream came true for American students who joined Nilson Matta and Roni Ben-Hur at our first Samba Meets Jazz Workshops program in the magnificent coastal town of Paraty!
A historic village, and known to be one of Brazil's finest jewels, Paraty provided a lens into the history of Brazil, as our students strolled to class in the town's historic center, where no cars are allowed. Evenings were filled with new culinary experiences, jams, and the chance to hear local musicians. And during the day, American and Brazilian students studied side by side with Artistic Directors Nilson Matta and Roni Ben-Hur.
We're looking forward to our return in 2012. Lodging options, and all fees will be posted on November 30.
