Looking for a unique learning experience? Our 4th annual Samba Meets Jazz Workshops camp will come to life July 22 through 27, and July 29 through August 4 on Frenchman's Bay in picturesque Bar Harbor, Maine, steps to Acadia National Park. Under the musical direction of world-class guitarist / educator Roni Ben-Hur and virtuoso Brazilian bassist Nilson Matta, along with our dream team faculty, participants will be immersed in Jazz, Brazilian Music and Latin Jazz studies.
This is a rare opportunity to learn from a living legend of Bossa Nova and Samba-Jazz -- Brazilian vocalist LENY ANDRADE.
Referred to as "both the Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn of Brazil," Andrade will teach master classes and devote specific sessions to "Teaching the Teacher." Additional classes include: Brazilian Percussion for Vocalists, and Jazz Improvisation & Harmony for Vocalists. Participants to perform in public venues, including opportunities to perform with faculty Nilson Matta & Roni Ben-Hur.
Designed for music makers of all backgrounds, on all levels, Samba Meets Jazz attendees get to experience personalized instruction from our faculty -- from morning to night. Small class sizes facilitate attentive coaching and guidance, while evenings are filled with faculty-led jams, concerts and even Big Band sessions.
Our diverse group of participants come from across the United States and beyond - including adult hobbyists, college students, instrumentalists / vocalists seeking to explore new genres, as well as educators and jazz artists seeking to hone their craft and make meaningful connections. High school students are encouraged to participate if chaperoned.
